Product overview

Kerala cardamom for the Gulf market

In the Gulf, cardamom is not just a spice. It is the defining flavour of Arabic coffee (gahwa), served in homes, offices and majlis every day. Buyers here know cardamom well and pay for bold pods with a strong aroma and an even, deep green colour.

Our green cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) comes from the Idukki hills of Kerala. We grade it by pod size and litre weight and sort it for colour, so a Dubai trader can sell it by grade with confidence, whether to local roasters or onward to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.

  • Bold 7–8 mm and 8 mm+ pods for the Gulf trade
  • Deep green colour, sorted lot by lot
  • High litre weight: full, heavy pods
  • Vacuum packed for aroma and shelf life

Why Dubai buyers choose Kerala cardamom

What the Gulf market asks of cardamom

Cardamom buyers in Dubai are some of the most experienced in the world. This is what they check.

01

Pod size

Bold 7–8 mm and 8 mm+ pods sell at a premium in the Gulf. We grade strictly, so a bag of 8 mm is all 8 mm.

02

Colour

Deep, even green signals freshness and careful curing. Pale or yellowed pods are sorted out before packing.

03

Aroma for coffee

Cardamom is the main flavour in Arabic coffee, so aroma is everything. Vacuum packing keeps the oils in until the bag is opened.

04

A short supply line

Dubai is about a week by sea from India, so you can order more often, hold less stock and always sell a fresh crop.

How your cardamom is prepared

  1. 01

    Harvest

Pods are hand-picked at the right maturity from plantations in Idukki.

  2. 02

    Curing

Controlled drying in curing chambers keeps the colour deep green and the aroma intact.

  3. 03

    Size grading

Pods are graded through sieves into 7–8 mm, 8 mm+ and other size bands.

  4. 04

    Colour sorting

Pale, split and empty pods are removed so each grade is even in colour.

  5. 05

    Testing & packing

A sample is lab-tested, then the lot is vacuum packed and cartoned for Jebel Ali.

  • If you re-export to other GCC countries, tell us the final market so the documents match its rules.

FAQ

Green Cardamom for Dubai: common questions

Which cardamom grade is best for Arabic coffee?

Most coffee roasters and traders in the Gulf prefer bold 7–8 mm or 8 mm+ pods with a deep green colour and high litre weight. The bigger, fuller pods carry more aromatic oil, which is what gives gahwa its flavour.

How long does shipping from India to Dubai take?

Sea freight from Cochin to Jebel Ali typically takes 5–8 days, plus a few days for documents and customs clearance. It is one of the shortest export routes from India.

What is the minimum order for cardamom to Dubai?

Our minimum order is 250 kg, which can ship in a shared container (LCL). Traders and re-exporters usually order full containers.

Can you supply cardamom for re-export to Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries?

Yes. Many of our Dubai buyers re-export across the GCC. Let us know the final destination so the documents and labelling are prepared correctly.

Do you offer private-label packing with Arabic labels?

Yes. We can pack into your branded pouches or cartons with Arabic and English labelling. Share your artwork and pack sizes and we will quote.

Can I get a sample before ordering?

Yes. We send sealed samples so you can check size, colour, litre weight and aroma before placing an order.
